I wasn't quite sure where to put this... but hopefully I'll get some help...

Ive been going through the malware removal thread... and when I got to doing scans in safe mode, I discovered that I was unable to start in safe mode, I just got the blinking - ... so... any inputs

    Firstly welcome to MG. :)

So what OS are you using? How have you tried to get into Safe Mode? Pressing the F8 key before the Starting Windows message is the usual way.

I've tried to meticulously follow all the directions. Hope I suceeded.

The symptom that brought me to "Hijack This" was my mouse taking over the computer. It was very, very weird.

The scans you require in the Hijack This procedures found a lot of stuff and removed them. The mouse was still going crazy when I began this morning but seems to have stopped. I'll be very interested in your feedback.

Here are my first 3 attachments:

Pardon my french, but Im norwegian... so some sentences may be a bit incoherent ;)

well Im using XP, but I managed start in safe mode using msconfig... but not safe mode with network, or atleast my internal wireless networkcard was shut off when I tried to connect to internet. All this to remove any potential malware... I just continued with the steps given on the "malware removal guide"... but found nothing...

Which brings me to another question.. is it normal to have several processes of the same file running... for example when checking my task manager, ive got 3 "cli.exe" running... when googled I found out that they had something ati catalyst thingey, which makes sense because I have an ati graphics card.
    Any input on this?

on the 3 cli.exe: From the ati site:

Q10: Why does the Catalyst® Control Center require 3 “CLI.exe” files as well a “Preview.exe” file?

A10: The Catalyst® Control Center has been separated into different components (a unique instance of CLI.exe per component) because it allows us to tune the characteristics of the process instance to the type of component. One component is called the “Runtime”, which acts as a server to all of the other client components. The two other client components are the “User-Interface” and the “System Tray”. The client “CLI.exe”s are tuned differently to enhance performance; the “User-Interface” client is optimized to run for short periods of time, whereas the “System Tray” client is designed to run for long periods of time. The “preview.exe” file (used for the 3D preview) is a based on the Win32 process (whereas the rest of the Catalyst® Control Center is based on the .NET framework), and is strictly an OpenGL application. Note that the preview “preview.exe” process is used only when the “User-Interface” is operating, and is ended as soon as the Catalyst® Control Center is closed.
