"SAFELY REMOVE HARDWARE".....for hardrive?

ok guys i know this is a very noobish question, lol, but i cant find out how to get the "safely remove hardware" icon out of the bottom right......anyone know how i can get it out of there without clicking "REMOVE"? I dont want to remove my harddrive!!!

It will stay there while a device is plugged into the USB port. You can Right click on the Toolbar and Choose "Properties", and in Taskbar tab, customize what icons are hidden always, or hidden when inactive and see if that works.

 

but when i click on it it says the device that is to be safely removed is my HD!

If i convert my mouse from USB to PS/2 will it go away, cuz thats the only thing i use USB for!

but why is the device my HD?

 

Possibly the USB interface is using the same IRQ as the hard drive. If you do a Rollback with System Restore, see if that fixes it.

 

I've seen this before. While i do not know your exact setup i'll take a stab and say that you have a sata hard drive and a motherboard that supports the ATX 2.01 power supply with the 24 pin connector. (I saw this on a simmilat set up) The reason it does that is because in combination with the ATX 2.01 the serial ata becomes hot swapable alowing you to remove and add drives without powering off. But still if your try to stop your main hard drive it won't let you.
