safely remove hardware

My icon does not show up in the task bar when I have something in port. I want to know if there is another way to make the icon appear... ( I went to taskbar/properties-customize but the "safely remove hardware" folder already says Always Show).
I am concerned that when I pull my camera or phone out of the port I am going to damage the device... is there another way around the icon if I cannot make it come back to the task bar?

 

You are wise to be a bit concerned... I have seen many motherboards (and iPods) damaged by the repeated plugging and unplugging of USB devices without using the 'Safely Remove Hardware' icon. Check out this link. It details a few different ways to solve this problem.... good luck!

 

Try this: Safely remove hardware icon is missing it is not hidden when you went to customize notification found by right clicking on the system tray you found a folder called safely remove hardware under past y?

I placed a shortcut on my desktop, dlb suggested link, but I would like to know how to fix the issue correctly.
