Recently recovered from ctfmonb. Infections are clear. Having problem on boot up still. Not all auto load items load. For example, sound icon, activesync and other. Also, now when I plug in a usb device, I no longer see the option to safely remove the device in task bar lower right. I am afraid to disconnect it without safely remove. This is getting to be a nightmare. thanks

Start/run and type in msconfig. Then click on the startup tab and see if anything is unchecked that you want checked.
If the USB icon doesn't appear (not sure how to get it to re-appear), then click on My Computer, you will see your USB device listed. Right-click and select eject. That will allow you to safely remove it. I had to do this on a 98SE computer that lost the tray icon.
