Safely Removing Hardware

I recently just restored my computer to factory settings, and ever since I did when I plug my portable hard drive in everything works, and the autoplay thing comes up. When I go to remove it and click the icon at the bottom right of the screen, my portable hard drive doesnt show up to safely remove it. What do I have to do to get it to come up so that I can safely remove it?

 

You could go to My Computer and right click the hard drive and click eject. If that doesn't work then just wait till all of the flashing lights stop blinking and save all your work then you should be able to pull it out safely.
