    Hi all,

Having a rough time diagnosing this problem:

Dell Slim Tower alternately goes into loop on boot or BSOD once booted (sata drive). I reformatted and reinstalled vista, same issue. I swapped the hd with another sata drive, same issue! It has two 1 gb mem sticks and I pulled one at a time, same issue. When I put the 2nd hd i tried back in it's original pc it had to run through the chkdsk and fix some things. I have the hd from the trouble pc in the good pc and it's currently going through diagnostics. Does anyone have ANY idea what could be causing this? I've about reached the extent of my knowledge.

    Thanks!

Sounds like you might have a bad storage controller.:(

    Anyway to test/repair that?

It's built into the motherboard. As the drive works in another computer and a different drive has the same issue, it points to the hard drive controller on the motherboard.
No repair possible on your end, if under warranty get motherboard replaced, if not under warranty you'll have to buy a new one.
