Same local printer at multiple locations

I work from 3 different sites and purchased the same docking station and printer for each. When I installed the local printer at the first location and then went to the second one XP detects and added another printer as (Copy1). The same happens for the 3rd location. Thus I end up with three instances of the same printer and I am forced to select which one I want to use.
Anybody know how to fix this? It's sooo anoying.

 

Can you clarify what you mean by "sites" and "locations"? Separate buildings, different rooms in the same building, or what?

 

Separate locations, 2 in the same city 1 in another state. All with the exact same hardware. When the laptop is docked instead of just recognizing the printer already installed it will create a new printer named (Copy1) ect. So for each location I still have to select which of the 3 is the default. Whay is that?

 

I'm afraid I don't know the answer. I think I'd visit the website of the printer manufacturer and search their FAQ or Knowledge Base areas and see whether you can find some info pertaining to this. I'd also check to see whether any tech support is available from them via email, phone, or a support forum on their site.

 

The printers work fine, I'm thinking that it's related to how windows see's each device as a new one. Thanks for your help.
