Samsung CDRW/DVD SN-324F does not play dvd's

Hi. My cdrw/dvd drive seldom recognises cd's never dvd's if I put a disc in it says no disc is in the drive. If on the rare occaision it does play a cd or data disc it seems to 'hunt' for a long time making a kind of clicking noise, after a long time it may play a cd, but rarely.
I have just downloaded and have details of my computer using Belarc Adviser, how do I show this to you?

 

Hello. Please can anybody help me, I am stuck. and do not know what to do next. I have considered buying a new dvd drive but my computer tell me it is ok and working.

 

I have the same Drive in my dell and I payed $10 for SonicCinePlayerDVDDecoderPackv2.31_SDD and it plays DVD's fine, you just put the DVD in and it brings up Windows Media Player, when you get into windows media player the DVD should run fine.
