    Hi there-
    My daughter wants PC games for Christmas but I'm having problems with my graphics. The problems occur with newer games. The old ones work okay.
    With one of the new ones I get the message :Graphics device error. Failed to initialize video card. With another game I can hear everything just fine but I can't see anything but a blank white background with a gray bar at the top and one at the bottom.
    I did a system restore. Nothing.
    I ran the DirectX diagnostic tool and the results are below.
    I can't tell if I need a new graphics card, or an updated driver (if so please let me know how to get that with out connecting to the internet with my system),or what. I really need help. This is beyond me.

    Hi. Looks like you are using built in video. Definately won't work with newer games. You'd have to check to see if it has an agp port or not. If so you can put a good card in there. What kind of games does she play?

    One we were trying to play was a Barbie Fashion Designer game.
    How can I tell if I've deleted a DirectX file or installed a duplicate?
    I'm sure now that I've screwed something up. I had run Cr*pCleaner before it went on the blink and also deleted some files manually. The reason I'm so sure that its me and not just an old graphics card is that now suddenly my system is saying something like "Cant initiate DirectX for Internet Explorer".
    So how do I comletely remove DirectX and reinstall it properly? I'm guessing that would be easier than going through each file trying to find the kink.
