Sapphire Radeon 5770 1 gb..Lag problems!

I got a new system the other day.

Phenom II 935 x4 3.4ghz

4gb DDR3 1600mhz

ATI Radeon 5770 1gb card...

Windows 7 64bit



I installed Mafia II and Assassins Creed II. They are up to date etc. I also have the latest drivers installed.

Version: 8.791.0.0



Just ran a 3d mark demo, and scored P2261 - this is really low for a system of this spec surely?

My results page says this:


Memory

1024 MB

Core clock

157 MHz
Memory clock

300 MHz



Is this a 3d mark error, or is there something wrong with the graphics card?

It also says this regarding the RAM:
Module 1

2048 MB G.Skill 9 @ 667 MHz
Module 2

2048 MB G.Skill 9 @ 667 MHz



So, aside from the games listed above being laggy and running at around 20-30fps at best, the 3d mark average frames were about 7-10.

Yesterday i spent a lot of time on photoshop and dreamweaver, left the computer asleep for a few hours, came back, played AC2 and Mafia 2- and they both worked smoothyl with no lag?!



I cant understand this at all, is it a driver problem? A hardware issue?

How long did you play Mafia II and AC2 without lag that one time?

You may want to check the temperature of the video card. Make sure the fans are running properly, that there's no dust in the heat sink, and all that. Check airflow around the card as well. Oh, and the latest Catalyst driver is 10.11, I think... at least it is for the mobility Radeon cards.

Same problem here, my ram reads 300 MHz and core clock 157 MHz. I have the same exact card as baker_uk87 but I am running it in Windows 7 32 bit.
