Sapphire X1600 XT PROBLEM!

Hey all,
I'd appreciate ANY help i can get on this problem! so ok here goes...bare with me on this one...

I purchased a sapphire X1600 graphics card not too long ago (about 2months) and was working fine until now. The actual card works fine, but the problem seems to come from (im guessing) the catalyst control center software. The problem im getting is that when the catalyst center loads on startup (as soon as i login to windows) the stupid thing freezes my whole system and crashes my computer! So from there i was forced to reboot in safe mode and ran msconfig and unchecked the startup item - CLIstart.
I then rebooted as normal, logged into windows and system didnt crash and worked fine! so i decided to open the catalyst center from my desktop just to make sure it was ok...and it done the same thing..system froze and crashed my computer again! And this is the same damn problem i get all the time now...Anyone have any suggestions????? (if you guys read this far lol)

1Gb Samsung DDR2 RAM

hey, thanks for the reply. yeah i uninstalled and im just gonna leave it as that. Im going to invest in a new card, preferably a Nvidia.. i hear good things about the 7600GT and the 7800GT..any suggestions. thanks

 

the 7600GT is a good card, but rather than the 7800GT, look into a 7900GS; performs better and costs lest

You may want to wait a while though because the first directx10 cards are coming out and im guessing that a good midrange card will be available soon as well.

as for fixing THIS card, uninstall the card, run DriverCleaner Pro then reinstall the driver. Also, have you tried different versions of the driver?
