    Could be...

They look a lot like the tubes used to test the atmosphere for a gas, instead of the gas itself.

Edit: of course, why do you need detection tubes if you don't have the gas?

It depends on what gas you are looking for .. The oil Industry uses these tubes extensively to check for Sulfur Dioxide , methane, ethane, Carbon monoxide and other gases that may "leak" from a drill site/processing site.
They are also used in mines AND chemical manufacturing industries.
Most do not measure nerve gases (in general, each tube measures 1 specific toxin), since they are not naturally occurring. If the tubes said they were for testing for Sarin, then they were either manufacturing it or concerned about it being used on them.
I would suspect they were manufacturing sarin if they had equipment for monitoring "leakage".

Finally got on the site and saw the tubes - Mr. Pewty is correct, they are monitoring tubes. In general, nerve gases are stored in medal cyclinders, not glass, because of the "oops, dropped the sarin tubes" factor.
