    Hey Guys!

I have the ASUS Rampage III Formula mobo. I got a 256GB Crucial SSD and have been running it all by itself on the SATA 6gb/s port with no problems. Ridiculously fast.

So I was running low on space (apps only on ssd) and got a second Crucial SSD which I plugged into the second SATA 6gb/s port. And all hell broke loose!

First, it performed like a dog. So I formatted both drives and tried to run them in a Raid 0 config using the Asus Drive Xpert. It worked, kinda - it showed as one drive but crashed trying to load a Windows upgrade. After that, I couldn't even get one drive to run in the SATA 6gb/s ports; it's like they're both hosed or something. So now they're both in the SATA 3gb/s and they work fine. But it's kinda like driving a Ferrari around a Cul-de-sac; pretty useless.

I'm blaming the motherboard. I think it's crap that they have these two SATA 6gb/s ports and yet you can't get that performance if you plug in two independent drives and don't want RAID. (From what I can tell, that's how it works) But I'm also a bit of a NOOB and could be making NOOB mistakes. Any help or suggestions appreciated.

    Thanks!
