sata colors on motherboard

have asus m3n78-vm motherboard running windows 7 have 5 sata 3 are colored red 2 are colored black just added a secondary hard drive ,have main going to sata 1 sec. going sata 2 first dvd drive to 3 the second dvd drive to sata 4 colored black boot up pc second dvd drive not there, any help

Page 1-29 discusses the 5 SATA ports and of interest is the very last sentence about SATA 4-5 ports not supporting IDE (only RAID and AHCI) so if either of the DVD drives are in the black ports this maybe the problem, do they need to be recognised as an IDE device?!?

 

i guess not .but how do i change that

 

Put your 2 HDD into the 2 black ports and the DVD into red ports?!?

 

Please bear in mind that if you connect the hard drive with your operating system on it into an AHCI port you will probably need to reinstall the operating system with the correct AHCI drivers fed to it before the main installation.
