I've installed Win xp pro on a Seagate Sata drive. All is well except it shows up an external c:drive when the mouse pointer is on the icon ( Safely remove hardware ) showing drives connected to usb ports. Is this normal?? Thanks for any help

That isn't indicating it's external. Most newer SATA drives are hotswapable. When it shows up there it merely means you could remove the drive without turning off the computer. It also means you could install the drive without turning off the computer.

Of course in your case you'd NEVER want to eject the drive since it's your system drive and if you remove it you'd crash the computer, but the HW can in theory be removed while the computer is running. I think it's kinda an oversight on MS's part to not bar users from ejecting there main HD, but I guess they figured they'd simply allow anything so long as the HW supports it.
