Sata Hard Drive Recovery of Data?

Okay then what's the score, my Sata 400 gig which has no partitions, was disconnected from a 'Raid' set of 2, one disk is fine the other is not so fine???
Why the heck does this happen when Raid is involved?? Now begs the question, will I be able to recover all of my files on said disk? and if so what is a quick and thorough software program, I am want the Best that I can find, as there is data on this disk which can be replicated albeit it will take me forever to work on, I know I know, you are saying 'ought to have been backed up' what a stupid mistake on my part!!! You say 2 hard drives in RAID. What kind of RAID? RAID 0, RAID 1? You say one disk is ok, and the other is not. I am guessing you had a RAID 1 setup. That mirrors the data onto both disks. They should be exact copies of each other, and there would be no need to get any data off the bad disk.

Hello, thanks for your reply, the disks were on an individual 'Raid' and therefore not mirrored!! How perectly annoying, why oh why does a disk loose it's ability to be recognised when it has been disconnected in all the proper sequence of things from a PC?

 

So you are just trying to copy data off a SATA drive, no RAID. Too bad it was not RAID 1. I would try it using a USB adapter. I am confused on you saying RAID, if no RAID was configured, it should be just a SATA hard drive.

Just to clarify, your computer boots and runs with no problems with SATA drive 1, and SATA drive 2 is not recognized by the computer?
