SATA III drive installation in Dell 2400

    I am having trouble installing a Hitachi deskstar 500gb SATA III drive as a secondary on my Dell 2400. I am using a VIA VT6421 adapter. I load the driver for the adapter ok but when I connect the drive to it I get a message "This device cannot start (Code 10)" in the device manager. Please bear with me, I am not very technosaavy but will answer any questions as best I can. Help......
