Sata Raid

Hi everyone,

Can someone help, I am trying to set up a raid Mirror on 2 x200GB Seagate drives, Windows Xp, ECS 915P-A MB, 1 GB Geil DDR 400. I have tried to set it up and still keep getting an error " Incomplete Raid Set" I have tried everything I know (not all that much really) but still can't get it done, I have tried setting it up just on the mobo, also with a Sata controller card, I am pressing F6 at the start of the XP Pro setup and have copied the driver to floppy it is a SI 3112 set up and I can't get rid of the erroe, also I don't really know how to tell if Raid is setup or not (it is for a friend- so I have to persue this) does raid mirror 1 show 2 hard drives in "My Computer" or does it just show up as 1 drive? I don't know about Raid at all and I can't really find any links that can help me, does anyone know of a site that might be able to help me Please, does Raid have to be set up on three Hard Drives?

I will check back in the morning (approx 14 hours from now) (Canberra time) if anyone can help I would appreciate it immensly. I really am stuck on this but would like to learn how it is done, if anyone has the patience to help me through. Many thanks for reading this far

Firstly you need to setup your Mirror by pressing F4 on boot to enter the RAID configuration Utility Menu, you then choose Mirror stripe and set it to 16 bit , I believe this is the recommeded size. If you have a Mobo manual i suggest reading that or go to mobo site and get a copy. There are on screen instructions that will show as you set the mirror. Any more probs get back to us.

 

also be sure youre plugged in correctly most intel based mobos are set up to raid port 1and 3 or ports 0 and 2
