What do you think is a better option if you had both too chose from i kinda use both in my desktop there both Fast.As long as you pick the 7200 RPM's i guess.

I went to SATA and never looked back. Faster data transfer rate, hot swappable, smaller data cable for better air flow... Most newer motherboards have more SATA plugs than the old ones had for IDE.

If you already have ATA drives, the speed increase may not be noticeable. But they are faster. I love the smaller cable size.

Well my computer has both options it has 6 sata and 2 ata ports one for A drive if i ever use that again lol i don't any body use's A drive's any more very few any way.I See Very little change but i do agree with you thiner cords for better air flow.I think as long as its a 7200 RPM or higher then it should not matter.

If you are replacing an old drive (and your current board has available SATA ports), always go SATA.

Many current boards (especially i3/i5/i7) do not even have a native IDE/ATA connection.
