Sata

I Used to Have a Dell Deminsion 3000, which i must admit was a turd, and it included a Seagate Barracuda 80gb IDE HD. Now, i Have A HP Pavilion a1250n with what i beleive to be another Seagate (Haven't Run Everest) and is running a nVidia 7950 GT . I also have an adapter that i borrowed from a buddy of mine that has an IDE connector on the end. The other end has a SATA connector. (it's not a sata to USB). My Problem is I will hook up the two hard drives, IDE on one end, SATA on the other, and i will hook up the power to the IDE, so everything is Hooked up correctly, (I assume). But, when i fire up windows the attached IDE drive does not recognize. I have it set to boot off of the SATA drive like normal, but it doesent even acknowledge that there is another drive attached. What do i do in the Bios/ Boot screen, or whatever else, to get this drive to show up?

I'm assuming you don't have IDE on your new system? If you do connect the IDE drive directly to the IDE port on your system. Using an IDE to SATA adapter won't make the IDE drive any faster!

Assuming the drives are connected properly.. Ensure the IDE drive is set to Master on the primary IDE Channel and ensure the SATA drive is connected to a SATA port. Enter the BIOS.. F1 F9 F10 what ever it tells you to hit to get in there. Once in check and ensure that the secondary drive is detected properly by the system.
