satan's wrath = AOL dialup Problem

First Id like to say I have come to MajorGeeks for many of my problems and you have helped immensely, saving me from costly hours and repairs... Now there seems to be a problem with my parents computer... They are running on dial up still (yes I know, I have tried to persuade them to upgrade and solve some of their problems, but to no avail)...Anyways recently they just bought a new dell fresh out of the box, they have done nothing but activate the Norton Antivirus that came with the computer and activate the AOL which came with it (AOL 9.0 Top Speed). Everything was fine until they did updates on Norton, Windows, and AOL...after all of the updates were downloaded and installed, AOL refused to show pictures in any of the emails. I witnessed this myself as my mom showed me how her emails from places like Borders bookstore and QVC come up as just blank jpg boxes (with the little "x" in the corner). This has happened before with aol dial-up, In fact it was the reason my parents bought a new computer, they figured it had to do with the computer being 4 years old and nearly obsolete. I thought that was the problem too because the new computer was running fine and it has significantly more ram, processor, etc. Now Im convinced it had something to do with the updates that were installed, because prior to those the email/internet in general ran great. Does anyone know of or has heard of AOL Dial-up conflicting with some security feature in Norton or windows? I think maybe either AOL (with their ridiculous built in security features) or Norton is restricting the viewing of these jpg?
