satellite 105 start problems

    Recently my laptop notified me to switch to alternate power, then died. Tried to restart several times...then checked ac/dc adapter with volt meter....is putting out 15.2 volts which I believe is correct. It will only start up with the battery removed and adapter plugged in. What is the problem?
