Im thinking about gettin Direcway because Cable & DSL arent in my area and probably will never be ( live in the boonies , but I can see the southern sky! lol ).

So I was wondering how much better than 56k it is.. I read somewhere that it can go up to 500kbs downstream and 60 kbs upstream. Which the downstream is like 17x faster and then upstream is 2-3x faster than my current connection. Is it worth the high price tag?

Another question... What would my ping be in FPS? Around 300-400 consistently? that wouldnt bother me at all since I am really good at FPS even with my lag using dial up ( gotta lead the other guy a little bit ).

Well, from my experience unless youre connected with an upstream cable connection, satelite is only good for downloading files. If its a satelite uplink (which is probably unlikley) you might get better speeds than a normal 56k uplink.

If its 2 way satelite then games should be pretty quick. Lag would depend upon where the earth station it was beaming to is, and how far away the server was from the earth station/ISPs management house.

Direcway is a 2-way connection. Since its my only option I will probably go ahead and get it.

When it says 500kbs does it mean 500 or 50 a second?

Just to let you know, the ping will be horrible. It's better than 56k for everything but gaming basically. Have a nice day everyone. :)
