    Hello All.

I am getting a laptop that needs to be fixed. The usb ports are not functional. The reason they are not functional is because they arn't physically connected to the board anymore. The leads(not sure if this correct terminology) that run to the board arn't connected to it.

Any way i could possbily resauter this connection?

    Thanks
    Derek

    Hi Derek,

There's two ways the USB ports might be connected. One would be that they are soldered into the motherboard. The other is that they have wire or ribbon cable leads that plug into the board. You should be able to download the service manual for the Laptop that will show you just about anything you would want to know about it.

    Good Luck, Jim

    Hi again Derek,

Missed your comment about Soldering the connection. I have resoldered several power connectors to the motherboard. No reason you could not do it on the USBs if you are well acquainted with delicate soldering.

    More luck, Jim
