Save game in Assassin's Creed

I know there's no option to save your game and it just does it automatically but can anyone tell me why I was playing it for AGES and it said several times at the bottom of the screen (saving game, do not turn off console) and yet when I went to continue I'm right back at the start? I was playing for two hours! And it's ALL gone! *rage* I nearly threw it out the window.

 

Um apparently a glitch... I turned it off and on again and now it's back to where I was... Never mind. Continue about your business.

 

That is a glitch with AC. Did you patch it? You don't say which version you have, but if it's the PS3 one, the patch will be offered automatically, and it should do that on the 360 as well.

 

It's for the 360. It seems to be working alright now. I'm not that bothered. I'm getting bored of all the walking around for hours. I may give up and throw it out the window.
