Hi there,
Looking for a bit of advice about office word 2007. I am using a MS template and when I save the finished document I save it with it's own name as a word doc in the default format, which is docx.
Here's the problem, when I open the document at a later date, it opens as saved except the saved date is changed to the present day date. I'm sure there is a way to keep the file original, but I can't find it.
Can anyone give me some tips as how to keep the saved file original

Hi

In alot of templates they have auto field settings to todays date embedded, you would have to remove that and manually type the date in the area. Typically this field area when clicked has a grey background and if you right click it you can edit the field data, but to remove the field formatting just delete that line and add manually your date.

If you could link us/me to the template you used, we can exactly recreate and tell you the steps to remove this formatting field.

For reference ~ Fields and adding/editing can be accessed by the Insert > Quick Parts menu option.

Thanks for your reply.
I managed to find and disable the auto date field, and as you said all I have to do is type in the date on each invoice. I've done a couple of dummy docs, saved and then re-opened them and it works fine.
The documents I did before the change now open with the formula in the date field, no date at all. This is not a problem, I'll just open them all and put the correct date and re-save.
