Saving files as .jpg

Ok here is the problem.. I have windows XP, and I have been saving some clip art pictures from the internet over the past few weeks, mostly .gif's and .jpg's. When i find an image i want, i right-click it, go to 'save picture as..' then a window pops up, with 'my pictures' chosen already. Thats fine, thats where i want them. Then under the pictures, it says 'File name' and usually the name of the file is already in there, and beneath it, it says 'save as file type' and .gif or .jpeg are already there, depending on what the original image was. Well, this was fine until one day i saved a bitmap, and it saved as a bitmap. Since then, every image i try to save, is automatically being saved as a bitmap. where it pops up and says 'file name', its always 'untitled', so i change the name, but under that, it says 'save as file type' and the ONLY option i have is 'bitmap'. i click on the little arrow next to it to get a drop down menu, thinking jpg would be in it, but nothing, it just puts the word 'bitmap' in blue and white letters, its not an option to make it anything else, and i cannot click on it to manually erase bitmap, and write jpeg even if i wanted to. Its just stuck on bitmap, and bitmaps take up much more space, and i didnt do anything that i can think of that would have changed this. If anyone can help, please let me know what to do, this sucks, thanks.

Clear your Temporary Internet Files folder, and all should be well. Open IE, Tools, INternet Options, Delete Files button, OK, OK. Close browser, re-open it, and go get a jpg or gif.

While you're in there, go to the Advanced tab of Internet Options and scroll way down and check "Empty Temporary Internet Files folder ...".

That'll keep the problem from happening again.

this did not work on my xp, it still says save as bitmap or art, and the picture is a jpeg?
