Please let's not get in a discussion about Vista, whether it is good or bad, please just help me with a solution if there is one. :)

Sometimes I download a file and want to save it to a thumb drive. When I tell the program to save it there, it tells me that I do not have the "permisison" to do that and to see the administrator. However, I am the administrator, there is only one account on this computer and it is mine, administrator, owner, etc. Is there a way to make this available so that I can save a file somewhere othere than my drive c: ? I do not want to disable UAC if I can avoid it.

    Thanks,

Sorry to answer my own post, but I finally found the answer with some trial and error.

    1. I plugged in thumb drive in Vista

    2. Right clicked on the drive letter

    3. Selected Properties

    4. Selected the Security tab

    5. Found my name as user

    6. Clicked modify

    7. Gave myself persmissions

    8. It works now

Of course I have had to do this for each thumb drive as I have forced each of my thumb drives to always have the same drive letter when I use them.

    Hope this helps someone else,
