I am running IE6 and I am having a problem saving webpages. I encounter an
error message "There is insufficient memory to save this Web Page". The problem occurs when I choose to save as "Web Page, complete" or "Web Archive, single file" but not "Web Page, Html only". No other programs are running and I haf 512mb worth of RAM and plenty of hard drive space left. Any suggestions? Also, when I save as HTML only, does that keep everything even if the page is deleted off the internet?

Tried a restart? Amazing how often that seems to be stupid memory errors right.

And yes, whatever you can view on the computer should be what you see if the page is deleted. You won't get pictures or style sheets but you will get all the text and any formatting that's in the web page such as headings will be displayed as headings, although they may not look the way they did on the website. If you want the pictures and prettying that the web page author used, you do need to use HTML complete to get those as well.

Forgot to mention: some program may have forgotten to let go of your memory and that's why you have a problem. The program closes but somehow doesn't let the computer know that it no longer needs the memory it was using. That's why a restart can be so helpful. And IE6 can occasionally get a bit stupid over how much memory it's using. I often also find that if I'm viewing PDFs in IE, it gets even more stupid over the amount of memory used. Try closing IE, waiting a couple of minutes and then restarting IE. Your memory problem might be gone.

Thanks, I tried rebooting and same thing happened. Barely anything is running. I will just save as Html for now, but it is just annoying. Thanks for your help.

Hmm, more to this than meets the eye, then.

A workaround is to manually save the pictures if you want those and put them in the same folder as the page you saved. Depending on how the web page was written, you'll then see the pictures. Someone who knows web code could easily change the web page code to make sure the pictures show up. You'll find it harder to get any other files such as the style sheet which can be used to make the page a different colour, change the font, add borders, etc. They are normally in the Temporary Internet folder, but you need to know what you're looking for. Date is a clue but it's a big place to look so I usually just use the Search to find recent files or read the code and go looking for the style sheet on the internet - not practical if you can't read the code...

Hopefully someone else will know the fix.
