SB Live! Value or onboard K7N2 sound?

It just occured to me that, since installing the MSI K7N2, I've still been using the SB Live! Value I've had for several years (like four years or so). Do you guys think the onboard audio would be "better", whether in sound or performance or whatnot?

Anyone? :) I guess I'm looking for some way to quantify which would be better, the older Live! Value or the onboard sound, apart from just "listening."

I guess theoretically the onboard sound uses more of your processor's time, although it's probably not that much. Usually onboard sound is WORSE than a sound card anyway, including problems such as distortion and crackly sound, at least that's what happened in my case. I used to have a SB Live! Value, and it was much better than my Asus a7n8x Deluxe's onboard sound.

I sold my Audigy card when I bought my new mobo because it had onboard sound... and ended up putting a Live 7.1 card in a few weeks later, little crackles aren't that annoying but background hum was more noticeable. I'd stick with the soundcard.
