I have a "scan" window that appears at startup and will disappear only after alt+ctrl+delete, end now. The first screen says "Please wait while Windows configures Scan. The next window ends with "The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available. Insert the 'scan'disk and click OK." I have no 'scan' disk! How can I get rid of this?

I have a Dell Dimension DIM 4600, Pentium 4, 2.8o GHz, 512 RAM. Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 + Service Pack 2 was installed when I bought the computer a little over a year ago.

I have run the programs listed in Read and run me first, logs are attached. I also attached the screens from start up that are persistant.

    Thanks,
    bev

Just an FYI for those who may be able to assist bev. She has already posted in the Malware forum and was directed to post here in software by chaslang.

I've only seen that on Visioneer scanners, or maybe it was the Paperport software it came with. The software is damaged. Best bet is to uninstall and reinstall it.

Actually, looking again, its probably here:

    O4 - Global Startup: HP Digital Imaging Monitor.lnk = C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\bin\hpqtra08.exe

    HP scanner then?

Yes, I have an HP 1350 all in one, and I did find the file you mentioned, but see attachment of the scan screens I see. It has to do with Windows, not the scanner.

With posting the Read and Run files before, I could not post the copies of the scan screens I get. They are attached now.

It does have to do with the scanner software. It is malfunctioning, and the Windows installer cannot finish configuring it.

Uninstall, then reinstall the software :)

Thanks, I did uninstall and reinstall the HP all in one. That window/screen is gone. I had some problems with JPG failing to open pictures, but that seems to be OK now.
Now I get a screen at start up that says--
At start up now get message:
    "DXDLLREG.EXE-Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point GetProcessFlags could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll."
I can close it, but it always appears during start up.

    Advice please,
    Thanks,
    bev
