Scandisk Repeats itself

    I have a Gateway 507GR, Pentium 4, Win/XP Home, just increased the memory with 2 1GB sticks, and the Scandisk I ran is repeatin itself, and can't get out of scandisk mode? Need Advice? Tried a Ctrl,Alt,Delete and Esc...no luck...Afterreading posts seeking help I assume since WinXP it's a DiskCk I performed, anyway it's run for over 18 hours?
