I have both OS Classic and X. With OS Classic I have ScanWise software. while I can scan an item, I cannot save it to a Word document. The pop up window says I need an OCR engine. What is this, how do I get one? Are there updates for ScanWise to make it compatible with OS X?

    Thanks, cflines

If I'm not mistaken, OCR stands for On-screen Character Recognition. Meaning that it can turn scanned documents into Word documents by using complex algorithms to analyze the text in the scanned image and convert it to a file format that can then be opened an edited with a word processor (MS Word, Word Perfect, etc). OCR software is generally not cheap, and by 'not cheap' I mean 'very expensive'. Since you seem to be running a Mac, I can't offer much help (I'm a PC dude), so a search of the web for OCR software should get you headed in the right direction.

    I hope this helps! ;)
