I am currently studying a certificate 2 in Information Technology at high school. One of the units requires me to look at anti-virus software, how they determine what a virus is and what sort of files the scanner looks at.

The three programs I am looking at are: Spybot S&D, Counterspy and CA Internet security 2007.

Information relating to the above or guide lines to search would be appreciated.

I will be happy to credit the post creator and the site the information came from

Matt: Thanks for your help. Google was my sons first port of call, but as you would understand there is a lot of spurious and out of date information out there on the net. Posting here at Major Geeks was my suggestion as a good way of checking that he has quality information that is up to date and a lesson in not believing every thing you read at first glance. Kind of a QA program.

    Thanks again
