Well, I hope he lasts a lot longer, as he still has so much more to give humanity.

He was Lucasian Professor Mathematics at Cambridge Uni when I was there, some 24 years ago. I'm hoping he'll be around for another 20 years, or more, at least. Who knows with modern medicine?

I just found out about this today, a friend of mine and I were in a book shop he wanted an even breifer history of time and couldn't find it, then he gave me the news.

Such is the frailty of life I guess, and it just goes to show you that we all need to live every moment like its the last

Hopefully as others have said he will live on and fight back but either way there is no doubt the profound impact he had on this society and the many amazing contributions he has added to life as we know it

We need more people with the courage and spirit of a Steven Hawking's

I had no idea that Prof Hawking is 67. I've seen worse looking able bodied folk his age.
Anyway, update. The hospital he is in has issued a statement to the effect that they expect Prof Hawking to make a full recovery. :)
