Scrambled Wav File

Hi Major Geeks,

Sorry if I didn't post in the right place.

Issue relating to multiple audio files I recovered from an external HDD that was in the middle of processing a multi-track recording when the power was pulled.

I managed to recover the file but the audio is scrambled as you can hear in this link -

There are 18 files very very similar to this one.

I've gone down the import into audacity and change the offset route, and tried editing header in Hex (don't really know what i'm doing but followed some guides) to no prevail, but it seems as though the headers not the issue as the file has no issue opening.

I did send it off to a company that said they could restore it but it would cost over $1000 which I simply do not have.

If anyone has any idea how to restore it i would be very grateful, happy to pay around $200 if it can be done.

Thanks for your reply, though as i mentioned, I've tried Audacity, the file has no problem opening, the header seems fine, but the raw audio data is scrambled.

As you can hear in the file, there is a series of intermittent silence, loud white noise and clean content.

I still have the External HDD which I've used 2 different programs to retrieve the data, one gave me the scrambled audio, the other gave me nothing, I can't afford to keep purchasing programs that aren't working.

If anyone understands, or has experienced this before, or perhaps knows a good data recovery software that could potentially recover the data intact, please let me know.

when i read this, it's like... well crap, worst case scenario sort of thing, and i do feel bad for you. the only thing i would know to do, would be to try as many of these programs as possible.
