*Scratching head please tell me if I am correct

I received new mobo today and it doesn't work. I laid down some styrofoam (sp?) and set my current motherboard and new motherboard side by side. I took old motherboard, connected power supply via 4pin connector and atx power cable as well as connected a case fan to motherboard, and connected power switch. Old motherboard spins fan and beeps. New one does nothing but makes my 400w power supply sound weird for 3 seconds. This is a bad board, correct?

 

Did you have a processor in the new motherboard?

No processor in either.

 

Humm....

Where did you plug a fan into? Some boards will not start up with out a fan connected to the cpu plug. Right by the processor socket.

So when you have your new motherboard pluged in is there an LED on the board? That should be lit up.

When you turn it on, do any of the fans jump at all? Show any indication of starting to move?

Also check where you connected your power button. Make sure that is right. My board has 60 something pins where everything connects. It took me several times to get everything right.

I have a new board being fedexed to me. Should have it sometime tomorrow. I did connect the fan to the pin closest to the cpu. No lights on this board. THere are on my other board. I pushed the power button, and the power supply fan starts to go but shuts off just as fast as it starts. If this board doesn't work, I'm returning it and going with a different brand.
