As soon as I turn on my PC in normal boot mode my screen appears corrupted. This includes the Windows start-up screen (lots of fuzzy blue squares on the black background), the desktop icons (fuzzy with small vertical lines) and the cursor (enveloped by small vertical lines). Games are unplayable.

The screen, icons and cursor are fine in safe mode.

I have cleaned out malware and this has made no difference.

Is this a graphics card / driver issue? My graphics card is Radeon 9800.

    Many thanks.

re-install your driver for your graphic card...

If reloading the video driver doesn't fix the problem, it could very well be that the GPU is dying. In safe mode, the video is run at a low resolution and a low color setting (8 bit I think). If you boot in normal mode and change your video settings to lower settings it may 'fix' the problem. But chances are you'll need a new video card. Hopefully, the PC in question isn't a laptop.
