Screen Flicker

Running Vista SP1, HP dv2 laptop and HP2009 monitor. I have a screen flicker. Based on prior experience on my desktop with the Quicken flicker that was corrected with a rollback of Microsoft Intellitype software, I used that logic and uninstalled the Intellitype and Intellipoint v6.3 that came with a new keyboard and mouse. The flicker was gone, but of course I needed keyboard and mouse software. I found a copy of Intellipoint v6.1 and installed it, no flicker, and the keyboard worked some, the keys were OK but some of the button features did not. I can't find a copy of v6.1 Intellitype that works in a 64 bit system. Can someone point me in a direction to this software.
Also, with a Microsoft keyboard and mouse, is there other maybe generic third party software for keyboard and mouse that I could try that might mitigate this flicker issue pretty obviously to me cause by wireless software. Will Logitech software work with Microsoft hardware?
