    Hi,

    I have recently bought a new monitor (LG 23MP68VQ 23" ) - 1920 x 1080
    https://www.debenhamsplus.com/p/111...full-hd-190-x-1080-vga-dvi-and-hdmi-3-monitor

    I am running Windows 7 64-Bit with a graphics card (PowerColor TurboDuo R9 280X OC 3GB GDDR5)

I have installed the monitor drivers from the original CD it came with, and installed the software with it.

Windows resolution shows as 1920 x 1080 no problem.

Everything seems ok until I try to play games..

I change the resolution to 1920 x 1080 in some games, and it automatically changes back to the previous resolution. The screen is flickering even on low resolutions, and the monitor displayed this message:-

I am completely baffled, I have googled it for a few days but do not seem to be getting anywhere. Someone told me it may be a monitor driver issue, other people told me it may be a graphics card issue.

    Any help or ideas?

    Many Thanks, Chris

You'll have to look at the settings and change 1080i to 1080p.
    i - interlaced.
    p - progressive scan.

Most games only run at 780P.Currently There are few and far between games that can even use 1080P.That is way you have to switch around with some games.

On some games i play my laptop can struggle at 1920 x 1080 this is my HDMI secondary monitor. And my secondary Monitor uses 1080P.

Oh really?! What decade were they released, I want to avoid those.

As expected, notebook CPUs are usually ~50% or more slower than desktop 'equivalents', as are their GPUs - unless you have a gaming notebook (currently~$1500 upwards).

@sheepondrugs: If it's only in some games, check out their specifications for max. resolutions. (There's an off-chance that some 'resolution' issues might be down to Windows Desktop font scaling being other than 100%.)

You have to realize on some games and there mechanics. Some are just not made to use 1080.

If some of these games were made around 2009 or 2010 times.I bet most have lower end graphics.

Like for instance i been playing on star trek online for 8 years now.And not much has changed in them 8 years graphics wise. And it was made during when Windows Xp was still being widely used.

Yes i know and you have got to realize i am using my secondary monitor through HDMI port.It runs fine at 1920 x 1080 depending on the games i play. Each game is different in game mechanics and graphics.
