screen problem?

    I have an ASUS eee 1018p netbook. The screen has developed black blotches along the far left side of the screen. 2 messages appear on the screen when I boot up. the fiirst: on top: "ausuhwio.dll"; below this comes:: cant create kernal mode driver service" I enter: "ok" and the second screen appears and says:"cant open kernal mode driver" I enter ok the messages end but the blotches remain. I dont know if this is a hardware or software problem. Can you help me? Thanks TB4
