screen recording software

I was wanting a program that would record the screen. I had some before where you could record the screen it also had a feature where you could click and drag the area on your screen you just wanted recorded, and you just press play and stop then it saves into file and you can view it anytime. I'm not sure if the free version has screen recording abilities, but it's the first thing that came to mind...

That link goes to the download page. First link came to nothing, second took me to the normal page of majorgeeks where theres a list of all things available to download, and third the Austra one came up as error.

 

It be like making a recording or side show of what I was doing to post and show other people what I am doing.

I think DemoCreator is a nice screen recorder with abundant editing features. And it records onscreen activity as slideshows.

I'm looking for a video screen recording software that will make a video (not a slideshow). I want it for making educational videos on YouTube and for recording Minecraft. I downloaded Microsoft Expressions and even it's free software seems pretty good, but it is too much for my computer and the videos are VERY laggy.

Has anyone heard of Easy Screen Capture Video? <snip>

They show themselves receiving 40 awards that all look hokey to me and it scares me to download it. If all they say on their site is true, it looks like something I might be able to use - lite enough that it wouldn't lag my computer.

Any help is appreciated.
