hi guys, i have a problem that i cant figure out how to solve.

when i leave my computer on and iddle for a while the screensaver comes on as it should. However when I leave it overnight or for an extended period during the day,(and it goes into sleep mode) i try to get the screen going again. What happens however is that only the mouse curser becomes visible. and when i click aroud in the middle i eventually hit a "close" button that seems to close the screen saver program because the screen saver image appears for an instant before disappearing. anyways, many programs dont start up after that happens and i have to reboot (really annoying to do so often). I tried using a different screensaver but that didnt work. maybe my screen saver program is suddenly corrupt?....because it never happened before. Anyways does anyone here know how i could fix it.

Also my harddrive is very full right now (1 gigabite of space). could that be part of the problem?

PS: im runing windows ME (yes I know its terrible) dell dimention 4100...um...i dont know what else you need. oh yea 900 MHtz speed....bout 37 gig harddrive....um thats all i know.

sorry to make it so long, i just wanted to fully describe the problem.

i know i can count on you guys, so thanks in advance.

That is very possible, try reinstalling it or a different screensaver program.

Also, found this if you want to try the suggestions here:

Some screensavers do not tolerate energy saving features. If you notice that a screensaver crashes when the PC is left alone for a longer time, try disabling low-power standby and monitor shut-down.

My standard answer for anyone mentioning that they are short of disk space ( 1gig should be plenty, though), is to load and run

    Cleanup! http://www.stevengould.org/
    EmpTemp http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=1575
    and CrapCleaner aka CCleaner http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4191

All 3 are free, don't conflict with each other, and each finds stuff the other 2 miss.

Run Cleanup! first, with volume full up for a laugh. Then CrapCleaner then EmpTemp.
EmpTemp requires manual operation but is easy to learn. I run all 3 every day. Bazza

okay it doesnt do it anymore. i think it was something called teatimer (which came with spybot). I cant find how to remove it but i just closed spybot when it loads.

oh, and about the hardspace, i already have Crap cleaner, but i will try the other two. Thanks for helping out, i appreciate it.

In spybot's advanced mode, in the left-side menu, select tools. Under tools, select resident. Uncheck the box for teatimer.
