On both my computers (32 and 64 bit) my screen saver keeps turning off?
They are both set the same way, so I know it is not a sync problem.

They both have Win 10 Pro.
32 bit is Toshiba A135 dual 1.73 ghz 2 GB of ram.
64 bit Asus Essentio AMD A8-5500 with radon HD grtaphics 3.20 ghz 12 GB of ram.

I'm sure it only a setting that I am over looking. Anybody else having this problem?

Are you using one of the screensavers included with Windows 10?

Yes, Mystify. There are both set to turn on after 10 min. They keep changing to 1 min. and don't turn on.

Ok. It seems the problem is then with the graphics driver. Update only one and see if the problem is fixed.

I tied one computer at a time and there both up to date.

The only info I could find points to the graphics drivers. I would not use Windows to look for updated graphics drivers. Visit the motherboard and/or graphics card manufacturers websites.

Same problem. Thank you for bringing this up.

    Windows 10 (64 bit).
Graphic driver says it's updated. (Checked via NVIDIA website and by Device Manager).

My screensaver is set to come on at 15 minutes, using images that I've stumbled upon on the internet and saved to a folder on my computer.

I can change the setting everyday to 15 minutes, yet it always rolls back to 1 minute and does not come on.

This seems to be a bug in Windows 10. One user reported the problem occurd after installing a program. Another user fixed the problem by disconnecting the joystick. Will have to wait for a fix from Microsoft.

    Thanks anyways Eldon.

I should still be part of the insider program at Microsoft, I'll see if there are any answers there. If I find a fix for this I'll post it.

After downloading the AMD driver, I went to install it and my computer said already installed.

    This comes from Microsoft;

This issue may arise if you have changed the power plan settings.

Kindly follow the below steps and check if it helps.

Press Windows + R keys on the keyboard to open Run command.

Type powercfg.cpl to open the power settings.

Change the current power plan settings, click on your current plan settings.

Change the Turn off the display and Put the computer to sleep to Never

Now try to change the screen saver settings and check if it helps.

I hope the above information helps. Kindly let us know if you need any further assistance with Windows. We are glad to assist you.

    Thank you.

    That'll be appreciated.
    Thank you.

Edit: Just saw your latest post. I found the same. And it does seem the problem is related to the Power Plan settings.

That fix does not work. I'll go back to Microsoft and do some more reading.

After reading countless threads at Microsoft. It is a power plan porblem.
What happening is, Windows detects the screen saver as a power drain and shuts it off.

I phoned Microsoft support and the tech guy said that they are working on this gliche.
It will be released in an update, when it's fixed. He also told me that this gliche has been
    around since Vista.

    Eldon;
Can you check older theads and see if this gliche was posted before?
Those treads would be nice to read.
    Thanks in advance, b1

Thank you b1jqxk44 for looking into this, I appreciate it.
Just to note, my screensaver settings worked ok before upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10 on my desktop. I had no other changes at the time when it suddenly stopped working.

Thank you b1jqxk44. I have searched the older threads but couldn't find anything definitive.
Likewise, searching Microsoft Answers and other forums have not yielded a solution.
And yes, this bug has been around since Windows Vista. It seems to occur when upgrading Windows or installing a program. Also, it may be related to the Power Plan settings especially if the user selects Power saver.
At this point I suggest selecting High performance and see if it makes a difference.

My screensaver has started working again.
I can't explain it though, other than trying to describe when I noticed it came back.

I upgraded the desktop from Windows 7 to Windows 10. I haven't done anything differently, other than out of curiosity, trying different Antivirus programs. I started with Windows Defender, then tried BitDefender, then Avast. (I'm back to Windows Defender for now).

After scanning the computer with BitDefender, I noticed my screensaver had started working again. Since then, the screen saver settings have remained correct.

BitDefender found 3 entries, I'm not sure if they were viruses or spyware... I believe 2 were Java related and the 3rd was a long name (I thought I had saved myself a note or a snippit on the computer regarding these entries, but sadly, I did not). The entry with the long name, I think had a backslash / symbol, or a percent % symbol, possibly the word Windows included, I remember it looking like steps to a file within the computer???

This may not be of any help since I don't have a screenshot from the BitDefender log, but thought I'd mention it.
    :-o

Look at the log file made by BitDefender. You can also upload it.

  19. Oooops!

    Oooops! MajorGeek

I'm not able to upload a BitDefender log because the program has since been uninstalled on the recommendation of not using it with Windows 10 at the moment. I tried Avast next, but the computer seemed to lag. So, I reverted back to Windows Defender. Within doing all of that, I thought that I had saved the scan results from BitDefender (snippit or note), but I was mistaken.

My screen saver settings remain unchanged, so that's good.

I'm sorry, maybe I shouldn't have posted anything, it may have caused more confusion, lol. Something seemed to have triggered my screen saver settings to work, at the time I noticed it, I was tinkering with trying out different Antivirus programs and thought that I'd mention it.

    Update

My monitor screen went black for a couple seconds yesterday, then a NVIDIA pop up said it had recovered.

Today I noticed that my screensaver isn't working again. The screensaver settings look ok, except my 15 minute timer was somehow decreased to 1 minute again (doesn't come on at this point).
Oh well. I thought that I'd mention it in hopes of someone figuring this mystery out.

    Good luck b1jqxk44
    :)

I'm still trying to figure this out. I tried maxing the power and saving power, nothing seems to work.
The last couple of days i've been repairing a Samsumg 52 in. it try's to turn on but the safety relay keeps kicking out. I had to replace a couple of capacitors for it to turn on.
It's fix, so now I can go back to this screen saver problem.
Where do I find one of those keyboards with the ooops bottoms? I need one of those.:-D

I had that exact error message from NVIDIA. Blank screen then recovered. Something is not playing nice together. Since Wise Care 365 is the only software recently installed, it's not rocket science to suspect it.

I believe we are battling the same gremlin but I don't have an answer yet.
