In XP it's Ctrl +Print screen or similar, you can then paste it in Paint (Ctrl+V) or another similar program to adjust and/or save to your hard drive. An easy one is Irfanview on the front page here.

all options me and Augie gave will work, and if you wish to know I use the Print Scrn and MS Paint method mostly, then crop the image to what I need to post then use http://imageshack.us/ for hosting the image as it gets around the forum limits on file size.

I use 2, Gadwin Printscreen from http://www.gadwin.com/printscreen/ and PrintNow (an old PC Magazine program going back to 1997 :D ). Each has separate defaults, setup for ease of use for me.

I won't give the link to that one, as it has worked for me since that time, but yesterday it didn't work properly for my friend's combination of XP Home and a Canon printer. Although the links say up to Windows 2000, it has worked perfectly for me on XP PC's at home and at work, and on other peoples PC's.

Stuff this idea of cutting and pasting into MS Word, etc., for me.:D
Have never done it, and don't intend to, ever. ;) just to get a solo screen print. OK for docs, of course.

We tried PrintDeskTop yesterday on the friend's PC. In the limited time I had, I couldn't get it to print in Landscape (an essential for any print screen type program IMO) so I need to research it further.

    Google link at http://www.google.com/custom?hl=en&...ks.com&q=printdesktop&btnG=Search&sitesearch=

Just some other alternatives for you to consider. :major Bazza

Yeah- MTPaint has a screenshot utility also. It saves it in .PNG format. I take desktop screenshots once every 10 days or so and save it to my USB thumb drive, so in the case of a catastrophic failure, I'll have a good idea of what I was running, and how the PC was set up..... just my 2 cents....

It also has killer graphic tweaking facilities for digital photos and artwork... check it out!!!
