Hello, can someone tell me how to resize the desktop on windows xp, I mean i know how, but i tried to enlarge things in settings and swith it to 120 dpi, and tried quite a few, but the larger it gets, the blurrier it is. The size of the font, page, and viewing pictures in IE, is extremely small and giving us headaches. Can anyone help?

    Thanks in advance,
    Rhonda

First, put the dpi settting back to the default.

Then, on the Display Properties>Settings tab, change the screen resolution to 1024 by 768. Say Yes when you're asked whether you want it to keep the new setting.

BTW, you should have some buttons on your monitor that let you change the display hardware settings. Check those out.

And make sure that you have no yellow warnings in Device Manager. If your monitor used to be fine but is now showing too small an image, it may be that you need to reinstall the graphics driver.

OTOH, if it has NEVER shown you the right size image, then probably your settings are just plain wrong. Expeddiment.

Awsome thanks much for your help, from what I remember I've tried to reset the resoloution to all the sizes, and the larger it gets, the blurrier it gets for some reason, that's when I tried changing the dpi, which for some reason didn't change much. Here's the situation, my grandparents bought a new computer, the monitor is brand new out of the box, and the settings on it now are all default, i left them the same after not being able to change. I'm wondering if this setting is the best we can achieve as far as a size of everything, it looks good, but she complains of having to squint to see things, and I also get a headache when i'm on it. What should I do?

P.S I'll have to check the monitor display buttons when I go over there today.

    Thank you much,
    Rhonda

I bet you'll find that if you leave the software settings at factory default and use the monitor buttons to enlarge the image (height and width), you'll be laughing.

If not, bug, bother, and PESTER the people they bought this thing from, until you get satisfaction and a lack of the need to squint at the screen. No new computer should require squinting ... not even from your grandparents. "Never never never," quoth he.

If it's for your Grandparents and you have all the above done, then you can also use the Accessibility feature of Windows to make things easier.

If it's not there in Control Panel, then you can install it from the Windows CD.

It's not an alternative to installing the correct drivers and using the correct settings, so do all that first.

Thanks so much for the help, i'll try both. I was kind of hesatant to mess with the screen settings, on mine, if i mess it up, i have a hard time getting it back to normal if there isnt a default setting on it. LOL.. But i'll try it:p

    Thanks much
    Rhonda
