I recently switched to a new hard drive on my dell Inspiron 2500 notebook. I used backup images burned to cd's via norton gohst to accomplish this. I originally had trouble just starting up but I have since edited the boot file and am able to start up but the problem is as follow:

Whenever I start the computer in regular mode the computer does its regular thing of showing the bar with the blue going across it and saying windows on top but then the screen goes black. During this time however the computer seems to be functioning correctly as if i had just turned the screen off.

The strange part is that if I start the cmputer in VGA mode it works and I can even optimize the visual settings so that it is as if nothing is wrong. How can I resolve this?

    Thank you,
    Joseph
