I have an odd problem with my computer in a dire time when I really need it, so I thought I would ask here since the forum has helped me before.

Yesterday I was switching between my user account and the guest account on my computer in order because I was testing if the network connection option in the toolbar would show up. Eventually the computer froze at the screen which lets you choose user accounts, so I had no option but to restart the computer.

Now when I try to boot it back up, everything seems to come on but the screen, which stays black the entire time. I can hear everything booting up normally and the fan seems to be working fine, but I can't do anything since I can't see anything.:confused

I can't give much on computer specs since I ironically keep that ON the computer, but here's a few things I know off-hand if it helps:
    HP dv6700
    AMD Turion 64x
Windows 7 OS (upgraded from Vista)

If anyone knows a solution, i ask for your help as I really need my computer back up in running normally before New Years. Thank you :major

    Greetings, MrMister...

Couple of quickies you might try:

    * Boot into Safe Mode (tap F8 before Windows loads), see if your symptoms change...

    * If this is a laptop, try connecting to an external monitor - if it's a desktop, try switching monitors...

Hmm, safe Mode didn't seen to work. A friend of mine is going to help me with setting it up to an external monitor, so I'll see what happens then.:)

If it's a laptop the back light might of went out, if it's a desktop maybe somethings wrong with the monitor or there's a lose connection; also if it's a desktop and hooked into a video card try switching to on board and see what happens.

Thank you both for helping. It was the back light that went out, I went ahead and got the problem fixed. Thank you very much :cool
