Screensaver not working in Vista

Forgive me if in the wrong area. I have a question about my screensaver in Windows Vista. My screen saver works in that i can preview, set it, etc. However, it does not actually start at the stipulated period selected in windows options.

Can anyone advise how to fix this, pls?

Are you using a wireless mouse?

That might be the problem.

Yes, give it a try and see if it helps. This has been a common problem with Vista and it might take care of it.

 

Ok, checked it out.

PCMService.exe is not in my startup nor is the PowerDVD software installed.

The link (perhaps it's old) does not lead to a download, unless as I understand poking around, you plug in a wireless device and then run windows update.

I have some other minor issues that lead me to beleive perhaps something is corrupted within windows, i.e. a quicken keyboard issue, the appearance of my Gateway homepage alters, and my keyboard no longer tells me if I have caps lock on or not... (duma**es didn't put a light on the kb, so windows used to tell me on the task bar).

Thinking of just reinstalling windows, but that is such a pain.

What do you think about this?

Well, reinstalling windows might help, but I agree it's a pain. When did the screensaver stop working? There may be a program running in the background that would be causing some activity and preventing it from coming on. Just a thought.

 

When was the last time you ran a scan for malware? Homepage alterations always make me suspicious. It wouldn't hurt to work your way through the Read and Run Me First guide.
