I have a laptop now and i want to leave it running. Im wondering if its bad to leave it running with the screensaver on for long periods of time.
Or is there a way i could get the screen to just stay on stand-by?
    Thanks.

If you go to your control panel and then to power options, you can set up how you want your PC to behave during periods of non-use

Well the screen saver will eat your battery more than a still picture but the still picture will toast your pixels! That's what a screen saver does, moves something around the screen to make sure all pixels turn off and back on. However, you can set the PC to turn off the screen after some minutes. If that's what you had in mind right click on the desktop, go properties>>screensaver>> power. In the field "Power Combination Settings" you can set your screen to turn of after as much time as you like :).
